Local Area Overview
American Jazz Museum: With the Blue Room and even the larger Gem Theatre on site, you certainly ought to catch a jazz show if you drop by the museum. Don’t feel it’s necessary, however, to speak with a jazzier-than-normal accent because you think a real jazz dude will call you out and embarrass you.
Country Club Plaza - A visit to The Plaza will quickly transport you from the Midwest to delightful Seville, Spain. And as sure as it looks like the European village, your money can just as easily be spent as though you’re on a European vacation. So live it up! Go shopping, enjoy a gourmet meal, and by all means, don’t stop until the restaurants and bars close at 1:30 AM.
Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbeque - When you go to Fiorella’s, expect greatness, not a hockey puck-hard Ribeye soaked in barbecue sauce. Instead, enjoy Hickory-grilled steaks, lamb or Crown Prime Beef Short Ribs as you redefine your barbeque standards forever.
Crown Center - Ever wonder what Hallmark does with all that sentimental birthday card profit? We have the answer—they own and operate the Crown Center. This commercial complex and neighborhood in downtown KC is home to numerous residences, retail shops, and entertainment venues. It’s also home to Hallmark’s global, “Card Empire” headquarters.
Arrowhead Stadium - Home to arguably the most crazed NFL fans in the universe, Arrowhead is packed every fall for Chiefs football games. It won’t be easy to find tickets, but if you can, wear red, eat barbeque, and chop your hand like a tomahawk when the rest of the crowd does—you’ll fit right in.
Kauffman Stadium - Home to Kansas City’s other professional sports team, Royal baseball tickets are slightly easier to obtain than Chiefs tickets. Be forewarned, however, that with a slew of young talent, the KC ball club is finally on the up and up.
