Local Area Overview
General Motors Assembly Plant/National Corvette Museum - We know what you’re thinking; “Attraction? An assembly plant is hardly an attraction!” But this extraordinary GM plant just happens to be the sole U.S. manufacturer of the Chevrolet Corvette, the car that gives people the most confidence, per purchase, in the world. And if you don’t believe that, try and remember the last time you saw a timid Corvette driver. You won’t find one here, there, or at the National Corvette Museum next to the plant.
E.A. Diddle Arena - The name E.A. Diddle incites feelings of pride, determination and fervor in the hearts of many Kentuckians. At his aptly named arena, the boys from the University of Western Kentucky strap on their high-tops and do Diddle proud nearly every basketball season. A perennial NCAA tournament 11-15 seed, the team sells out every seat at Diddle Arena during the regular season before upsetting those 3, 4, 5 and 6 seeds each March. Go Hilltoppers.
Historic Railpark at the L&N Depot - It’s not every day you stumble upon a historic rail park, and it’s even more rare to find one at a depot, much less a depot that could have been included in the original Monopoly. Take a tour of newly restored railcars and, while you’re at it, learn a bit about the history of the L&N Railroad at their interactive exhibit.
